is tightly packed rows of cypress trees trimmed to resemble a wall. Parallel is a row of flags, one from every nation. A mirror stands at the end of the wall along the approach creating the illusion of an infinite barrier. Inside, the wall abruptly ends.

is a slowly rising plane of roughened black granite with an inlaid grid of polished black granite. The junctures are marked with slabs (24"x36"x2") of sand-blasted tempered glass, lighted from below. Each is engraved with the name of a war, its years, and its number of people killed in action.
